Stephen Sorensen, has been honored with the 2003 Greater Los Angeles Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® Award in the Business Services category. Sorensen received the award during a gala at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on June 24, 2003.

According to the Entrepreneur Of The Year citation: Steve Sorensen “has grown SELECT to become one of the largest independent staffing services in the United States. He has been involved in all aspects of the company's growth, including the recruitment of new clients, the development of employee compensation and reward programs, and negotiating merger and acquisition transactions. Steve has differentiated SELECT through innovative service offerings and a consultative approach to client relationships."

In his acceptance speech, Sorensen noted, "This award would be more appropriately entitled, 'Entrepreneurs Of The Year.' Our success is directly attributable to the entrepreneurial team members ‘on the ground’ in each of our offices who are dedicated to making it happen for our customers. To me, that determination and persistence is what embodies the true entrepreneurial spirit."

The Entrepreneur Of The Year Award recognizes business leaders who have demonstrated outstanding success in such areas as innovation, financial performance, and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. Award recipients were selected by an independent panel of judges from business, academic, and civic organizations. As a result of this honor, Mr. Sorensen is now eligible for the Ernst & Young National Entrepreneur Of The Year Award to be presented in November. In addition, Mr. Sorensen is now a lifetime member of the Entrepreneur Of The Year Hall of Fame.
