Laurie C. Maxwell
LAURIE C. MAXWELL

Vice President of Operations

Considering that The Select Family of Staffing Companies is quite an acquisitive organization, Ms. Laurie Maxwell has gained a clear understanding of where to best allocate her time. In fact, sometimes a full half of her activities at Select are centered on the acquisition process. The rest of her time is spent overseeing key operational activities and departments such as marketing, purchasing, facilities, cost containment, vehicle fleet management, client promotions, and travel logistics.

As a truly goal-oriented individual within a clearly metric-based organization, Laurie is highly motivated to see assignments finalized—with a job well done. As such, she is committed to hiring resourceful individuals who follow through on projects and don’t require much hand-holding. She is also a strong proponent of accountability and has created and implemented a streamlined annual goal-setting and follow-up process for all branch offices. In 2009, Laurie was named one of the Pacific Coast Business Times' Top 50 Women in Business.

Laurie comes from a strong finance and operations background and uses both strengths in her role as part of the senior management team. Overall, she is responsible for ensuring smooth interactions between corporate and field operations—including soon-to-be-acquired companies.

After joining Select in 1996 in the executive offices to work closely with Human Resources, Laurie grew into a wider responsibility as the company expanded and needed additional talent at the corporate level. She has overseen the acquisition of nearly 70 companies, large and small, private and public. Laurie has developed an all-inclusive due diligence and post-closure checklist to be used as standard for all acquisitions.

Prior to joining Select, Laurie was an Operations Officer for the Bank of America, after having led several branches through all aspects of the acquisition of Security Pacific Bank. During graduate school, she was involved in human resources and information systems for Group Health Cooperative, a regional HMO in the State of Washington.

Laurie received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Relations from the University of California at Santa Barbara, where she was lauded as one of the top 30 students in the major. She also received an MBA from the University of Washington in Seattle, maintaining a GPA that was in the top 10% of the entire university.

Mrs. Maxwell is married and has three small children. She enjoys reading, downhill skiing, running, family photography and journal-writing, and participating in her children’s school activities.
